OMAHA, Neb. - For the second straight season, Bluejay goalkeeper Alicia Montgomery has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District VII first team, as voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and released Friday.  Montgomery met the requirements to hold a 3.30 gpa as well as be a starter or play in the majority of a team's games on the season.

Montgomery started in 13 of the 14 matches she played in this season, holding opponents to just 14 goals and a 1.16 goals against average.  The Walnut Creek, Calif., native posted seven shutouts this season, tying her for fifth on the Creighton all-time charts.  She also finished the season earning Missouri Valley Conference second team honors, as she finished atop the league in shutouts and second in goals against average.

She finished her career with a 0.84 goals against average, a number that sits atop all Creighton career charts.  In 2009, Montgomery posted a 0.58 goals against average, which led the MVC and ranked 15th in the nation.  She has a combined 22 shutouts in her career (highlighted by the eight in 2009) and now sits in third place on Creighton charts for that number.

Montgomery earned first ever Missouri Valley Conference Elite 18 Award (honoring academic and athletic success) last season.  She was also named a first team MVC Scholar-Athlete, CoSIDA first-team Academic All-District in 2010, while earning MVC Scholar-Athlete accolades in 2009-10.

A math and secondary education major, Alicia has won MVC Defensive Player of the Week honors three times this season, while picking up Prairie Farms/MVC Scholar Athlete of the Week accolades once.  She holds a 3.79 cumulative grade point average at Creighton.

Montgomery is now eligible to earn CoSIDA Academic All America recognition.
