OMAHA, Neb. -- A 2-0 weekend led to two members of the Creighton volleyball team earning weekly recognition from the Missouri Valley Conference. Megan Bober was named MVC Player of the Week, while Laurel Sanford earned the nod as MVC Defensive Player of the Week.

It's the third MVC Player of the Week honor in Bober's career. Sanford's fourth career MVC Defensive Player of the Week recognition matches the most by a Bluejay all-time (Bianca Rivera).

A junior from Murdock, Neb., Bober hit .500 in 46 swings and averaged 3.25 kills, 6.38 assists, 2.38 digs and 0.62 blocks per set last weekend.

Bober began her week with her nation-leading fifth triple-double of the fall when she turned in 28 assists, 11 digs and a career-high 19 kills in a 3-2 win over Southern Illinois. Bober also hit a season-best .531 and added four blocks in the victory. Her 19 kills were five more than her previous career-high and also ranked as most in Bluejay history by a setter.

Bober added another efficient performance the following night in a 3-0 sweep of Evansville. In that match, the junior had 23 assists, eight digs, seven kills and a block while hitting .429.

Sanford averaged 2.25 blocks, 1.62 kills and 0.75 digs per set in two victories last weekend.

The senior middle blocker began her week with seven kills, four digs and a career-high 13 blocks in a 3-2 win over Southern Illinois. With Creighton trailing 2-1 in the match, Sanford had a block on the first play of the fourth set, the final play of the fourth set, and the first play of the fifth set. Her 13 blocks are tied for the most by an MVC player in any match this season and fourth-most in CU history for a contest.

In Saturday's win over 3-0 win over Evansville, the Eagan, Minn., native had a match-best five blocks while also adding six kills, two digs and an ace.

Creighton (13-10, 8-3 MVC) will play five of its final seven matches away from home, beginning Friday night with a 6 pm (Central) match at Indiana State.
