Former Bluejay Nick Bahe will work with Creighton's radio and television coverage this season
OMAHA, Neb. -- At least 15 Creighton men’s basketball games in the upcoming 2008-09 season will appear on television, school officials announced today. The broadcast schedule includes nine games broadcast locally on KMTV, four games regionally on Fox Sports Net Midwest and one game each will air nationally on ESPN2 and ESPNU. Eight of the 15 scheduled telecasts are road games.
KMTV, Omaha’s CBS affiliate, continues its long partnership with Creighton basketball. The station has announced an ambitious slate of nine games, including four road contests, beginning with the Nov. 22 tilt against Oral Roberts. Travis Justice and Nick Bahe will call the broadcasts.
FSN Midwest will air at least four Creighton men’s basketball games, all of them taking place during the conference schedule. Creighton’s first appearance on Valley TV comes Jan. 3 at Illinois State, with games on Jan. 14 vs. Southern Illinois, Jan. 17 at Wichita State and Feb. 11 vs. Bradley to follow.
Creighton also makes at least two national appearances on the ESPN family of networks. Creighton’s Jan. 20 game at Evansville has been picked up by ESPNU, while the Feb. 14 game at Southern Illinois will be seen on ESPN2.
ESPN and its affiliates will air at least 15 games on Feb. 21 as part of the ESPNU BracketBusters series. Pairings and television coverage for those games will be selected in early February. Additionally, ESPN2 and FSN Midwest will each air a game on the final day of the regular-season (Feb. 28), with those decisions also being finalized in February.
KXSP (Big Sports 590 AM) will continue to broadcast the radio call of all Creighton Men’s Basketball games, with T. Scott Marr and Bahe handling announcing duties for most games. Those games are also streamed on-line through www.gocreighton.com and www.bigsports590.com.
Creighton’s 22-11 record last year extended its league record with a 10th consecutive 20-win season. The Jays will return 10 lettermen and three starters in search of a 12th straight postseason when practice begins on Oct. 17.
