Creighton's head men's soccer coach Bob Warming has been invited to travel with the Under-20 United States National Team to the Copa Chivas 2010 Tournament in Mexico. The event, which runs from Jan. 22 through Jan. 30, features 18 teams from around the world, including Mexico, Japan and Brazil.
Warming was invited along as an observer by head coach Thomas Rongen. The Bluejay mentor will be on the bench, attend meetings and learn first hand from Rongen and his staff, which includes former US National player Eric Wynalda, former MLS coach Dave Dir and goalkeeping coach Tim Mulqueen.
"I certainly appreciate Coach Rongen allowing me to observe the US team and all their wonderful players and learn from their exceptional staff who all have excelled in our sport," said Warming before leaving for Mexico. “I am looking forward to this opportunity to continue learning more about the international game.”
The team will play first round games in Group B of the tournament with the Brazilian National Team, and clubs from Atlas, Pachuca, Saprissa and Tigres.
