OMAHA, Neb. -- Creighton men’s basketball guard P'Allen Stinnett has been named this week’s State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week. A true freshman from Las Vegas, Nev., this is Stinnett’s first career honor.

Stinnett had 23 points, four rebounds, three steals and three assists in 26 minutes off the bench as Creighton overcame an early 17-point deficit to defeat DePaul on Friday night, 74-62.

Stinnett made 9-of-15 shots from the field and 5-of-7 shots from three-point range while scoring the most points in a Bluejay debut since Cyril Baptiste in 1969. He made 5-of-5 three-pointers in the second half, and had 15 of his points during a 17-10 Bluejay run that gave CU the lead for good.

All 23 of Stinnett’s points came in the second half, the most points in a half by a Creighton player since Kyle Korver’s 26-point second half on Dec. 31, 2002 at #19 Xavier.

Creighton returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 17 with a 7:05 pm game against Mississippi Valley State. For ticket info, call (402) 280-JAYS.
